A friend and protege of Jimi Hendrix, Velvert Turner never rose above his "wanna-be" reputation and following the release of his long deleted 1972 debut album, started a long slide into the musical shadows until his death in 2000. We kick things off with The Velvert Turner Group's 3 O'clock Train, followed by tunes from Groundhogs with a young T.S. McPhee on guitar, Nucleus led by Ian Carr and a beat heavy freak fest with A3, Almamagretta, Roxy Music, Tranquility Bass, Ultravox, Suicide and Ruts DC VS Mad Professor.

Inside, I feature music from Chicken Shack, Fleetwood Mac and her solo career as both Ms. Perfect and McVie. And that's not all - Aerosmith rocks The Joint with the Mac's Rattle Snake Shake and the Shaking continues with Otis Redding, The Five Du-Tones, Junior Walker & The All Stars, and The Swinging Blue Jeans. *Christine Anne Perfect was born on July 12, 1943 in Birmingham, England. A breakout star with the late sixties English blues band Chicken Shack, she recorded The Legendary Christine Perfect LP in 1970. After meeting and marrying bass player John McVie, and with the subsequent leaving of Peter Green, she joined him in his namesake band Fleetwood Mac, playing her first official gig as a member in New Orleans on August 8, 1970. Her amazing musical tenure in Fleetwood Mac was finally validated with their 1998 induction into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band was also awarded with a Lifetime Achievement nod at the Brit Awards, and received several Grammy nominations for "The Dance". *According to the urban legend debunker site StraightDope.com, one of the most well-known reports of monkey brains being consumed in China happened around 1948. The account describes a live monkey brought to a dinner table, place and secured in a hole in the center of the table. A tool of some sort is used to slice open the top of the creature's skull, and its brains are scooped out and consumed raw. This practice was said to not only be a rare treat, but also it also brought forth medicinal healing properties for those who ate the monkey brains. The monkey did not fare as well.
