*I mentioned that Groupie (Superstar) was written by Leon Russell and Mr. Bramlett. In actuality, the co-author was Mrs. Bramlett. I knew that, I just screwed it up. Sorry Bonnie - your voice has always touched my soul.

Transmission 9412

My son Curtis gets Executive Producer credit for this one. He suggested that I should do a 7 show in celebration of this month's RFW Anniversary. Then I thought of pairing it with a 21 set. 7 is a winner in Craps, 21 is a winner in Black Jack and Mathew 7:21 is one of my favorite passages in the Bible. The songs are not necessarily about gambling or religion, but they work so well together - the numbers seem to be a match made in Heaven. Dance to the digit ditties of The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Def Leppard, Green Day, King Crimson, Prince, David Bowie, David Byrne & Fatboy Slim, Hawkwind, Love, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Queen and Bee Gees. Thanks C.J.!

A Gang-Bang of Words in Memory of a Fallen Brother

Mama Netto had no way of knowing that her boy would shed the family name and replace it with a turgid alias.

He was a son, a friend and a loner - but he was born to be an entertainer.

Influences such as The Three Stooges, the seediest of B-movies and  professional wrestling all shaped his fragile mind.

The diverse music of artists from Devo to The Kinks to Kraftwerk were more obsessions than hobbies.

Others share(d) his ability to shock and confuse - such as Howard Stern and Andy Kaufman, although none with his unique style.

Comparisons to groundbreaking orators such as Lenny Bruce and George Carlin are appropriate, but only scratch the surface.

The fact is that he was all of these people - many, many more - and none of them. A genuine one-of-a-kind original.

Born and raised in Boston - I had no knowledge of KOME FM or the way to San Jose, but I knew his name and heard mind-blowing dementia from his show off of treasured cassette tapes smuggled in from the left-coast, years before I ever met him.

The thing I will remember most is him sitting quietly when  he came to my home for Monday Night Raw, a party or just to hang out, brushing my young son's hair with a calmness and gentleness that betrayed his public-persona.

He was a brilliant broadcaster, an amazing actor, an outrageous writer, an encyclopedia of knowledge, and a  beloved  member of my extended-family.

No doubt, he is on ten-second-delay in heaven - #1 in hell - and waiting in limbo in preperation of his imminent reunion with Nancy Reagan!

You will always be remembered.

Dennis "Erectus" Netto

RFW SPEAKS!

This Saturday will mark the start of my seventh year of hosting and producing Radio Free Wohlman. The process and product is still very near and dear to me, but much has changed. Although the past twelve months have proven to be the most turbulent in my life - during this time I have lost much, but gained an equal amount. Much of the inspiration for the RFW Transmissions of this period was born from sadness, fear and insecurity. Concepts such as love, commitment and friendship where reevaluated and redefined. But out of the depths arose a renewed sense of spirituality, a reawakening of my paternal responsibilities and a new found respect for the talents I was lucky enough to have been blessed with. The realization that a majority of the past decade has been wrought with untruths, deception and secrecy has opened my eyes and soul to what the future must be built upon.

The truly interesting part of this tale is that the events that transpired have fueled some of the most defining creativity of my career. I realized how much of the music I identified with for all my life came from authors and musicians in the same emotional well. It is a case of RFW honestly becoming a "form of therapy" and the artists serving as my melodic medicine.

I am so proud of the fact that the ever-growing RFW Family has amassed to over 185,000 strong in 188 countries. Know that your compliments of approval, enjoyment and relatability are appreciated and your criticisms of taste, texture and temperment are examined - but understand that none influence the output. Six years of refining what RFW should be have culminated in what RFW is:

No compromise!

No concessions!
