Blues in a name is the focus of today's show. Our family of songs that contain the word Blues in their titles, but that do not necessarily comply to standard blues changes include Julian Cope, AC/DC, Be Bop Deluxe, Comets On Fire, Grand Funk Railroad, Kasabian, Laura Nyro, Motorpsycho, Pink Floyd, Soledad Brothers, Sundial, White Stripes and Wolfgang Dauner! The word has leaked that I put on over 50 pounds for the recording of our 4-round musical bout, but that has more to do with ice cream than method acting. The relentless onslaught is courtsy of the well trained Electric Masada, Public Image Limited, Funkadelic, Mouse On Mars, Oasis, Nucleus, Primal Scream, Soundgarden and Muddy Waters! KO!

Listen, but do not go into the light. Stop where you are. Turn away from it. Don't even look at it. When I first reviewed today's selections, I sensed a strange musical quality as they blended together. Then things started to get weird. After recording it for the third time (the first two attempts were mysteriously interrupted), the result is by no means ghostly - just wonderfully eerie! Included is live Missus Beastly, Brian Eno, Talking Heads, Urban Verbs and an epic pulverizer from Pelican! Can RFW be haunted? It,s here!

Just as Stonehenge was constructed to perfectly align with the rising sun of the Summer Solstice, today's show was put together with the new season in mind. Not necessarily a set of summer songs, although we do get to Ray Gomez's cover of Summer In The City. It's more of a vibe thang. J.B. Lenoir, Skip James and Eddie Boyd all dish out the blues. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Santana and Jeff Sipe with Paul Hannson & Jonas Hellborg blend passion and chops for a wild ride and Brian Wilson with and without The Beach Boys make it official. Happy Summer!

His name is synonymous with guitar playing of the highest caliber! Django Reinhardt was only around from 1910 to 1953, but during that time his innovation, technique and recordings cast his reputation in stone. Included in today's eclectic show, we get to hear Django and other six-string legends including Charlie Christian-who was known as the Genius of the electric guitar and Kazuhito Yamashita*-one of the most amazing guitarists on the planet. Along with Django, Charlie and Kazuhito you also hear Guru Guru from their eponymous fourth release, a Top-Ten smash from Alive 'N Kickin', live Sonic Youth circa 1988, Keiji Haino** & Coil playing the blues(?) and a long jam from blues giants Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley!

Aplogies to both Igor and Antonin. Yamashita's transcription credits do include the above mentioned Firebird Suite, Dvorak's New World Symphony, J. S. Bach's First Sonata for Unaccompanied Violin and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade. You really have to see him to believe him - click here.

It was exactly 40 years ago that the Monterey International Pop Festival set the scene of what was to become the Summer Of Love! The show was the first of it's kind in the US and ended up being very successful! Musically it is a high-water mark and a perfect melding of the the 1967 music scene. We do a mini-version of the 3 day love-in that includes Papa John Phillips welcoming the crowd and introducing The Association, followed by The Electric Flag, Jefferson Airplane, the blazing Jimi Hendrix Experience, the amazing Ravi Shankar, Country Joe & The Fish, The Byrds, and The Mamas & The Papas with Cass Elliott who brought the festival and our show to an end!

Along with Magic Christian Music, we rock to 2007 music from Kings Of Leon, Klaxons and The Beastie Boys. The jam continues with sounds from the latest by The Sights and The Bees. Randy California & Spirit turn things electric with Jimi Hendrix in hot pursuit. The last set, out of the Wohlman Concert Archives, features Procol Harum live in Dallas circa 1973 and 2 ultra-rare recordings from the Maxanne Sartori show on WBCN, Boston, where I was a young studio intern. I was in a mood for some King Crimson, so I built a nice set around the band's Formentera Lady from Islands, A Man-A City from 21st Century Schizoid Band and a wild ride on The Lost and Found Highway with Bill Rieflin, Robert Fripp & Trey Gunn from The Repercussions of Angelic Behaviour! I then found myself in the Japan wing of the Wohlman Archives and started to work my way back to Crimo via Tokyo! First it's Otomo Yoshihide, Yoshigaki Yasuhuro & Bill Laswell eating some Crab from Soup, then we slide Frippishly with Cornelious into Wataridori from Sensous and end with my all-time favorite K.C. cover, Twenty First Century Schizoid Man by the legendary Flower Travelin' Band off their 1970 debut lp Anywhere.
