Dear RFW Family

Our Computer Brain - Hal was worse off than I thought. It got sent out today and will soon go under the knife. The hard-drive crash wiped out many needed programs and years of data. This whole ordeal has caused a major setback. I thank all of you for your kind words and I will keep you updated on our future. I miss our daily interaction more than I can explain (sniff, sniff).

In the meantime, enjoy the Past Transmissions, check out RFW on KYOU and have a Happy Halloween !

The ever-challenging ability to Hang On To A Dream while crying Tears Of Rage in our collective sleep has made it very hard for many of us to focus on getting Close To Paradise. The titles of a few of today's songs strike a deep nerve, but provide a chance for us to relieve our tension with the power of music. Please take a time-out from the madness and enjoy Buffalo Daughter, Simian Mobile Disco, The Cure, Todd Rundgren, Slade, Neil Young, Rocky Fuller, Patrick Watson, Gene Clark, Medeski/Martin & Wood and The Nice.

When Two Worlds Collide!

Most disciples of radio, especially those that spent time in the San Francsico Bay Area, know the names Dennis Erectus and Mel Karmazin. Mel's Infinity Broadcasting was the owner of the legendary San Jose rock station KOME-FM and Dennis was a notorius KOME personality (and the cloth from which all so-called "shock-jocks" that followed were cut).

This once-in-a-lifetime photo was captured at a station event and probably marks the only time that Erectus ever out-dressed Mel! By the smiles on their faces, you can tell that there was some twisted mutual admiration moment in progress.

I can only imagine what was being said at the exact time the picture was taken!
Mel has gone on to lead Sirius/XM Radio and sadly, Dennis suffered a severe heart attack in 2006 that has him still recovering.

I have met many people in my over 35 years of radio, but few as different and talented as these two. I owe them both for just being a part of their respective worlds.

This is as special as a picture gets and I wanted to share it with you all!

Dave RF Wohlman

* Dennis "Erectus" Netto died on June 11, 2012 after suffering a second an fatal heart attack. His family lost a wonderful man, radio lost an innovator and  originator  and I lost one of my best friends. You will be missed Mr. E.
