*Cognitive Dissonance is the psychological tension that arises
when an individual holds two or more conflicting
cognitions—attitudes, beliefs or behaviors—simultaneously.
This mental discomfort drives people to subconsciously resolve
the tension by changing their beliefs, justifying their actions or
 ignoring the conflicting information, which often causes
a downward spiraling effect.
