Sunday AM - The Mystery Festival

Day 1

?

"A long, long time ago.

*The Nes was for me, one of those musicians who's passing hurt beyond hearing bad news. Like John and David, they were as much the suppliers of happiness, advice and companionship in my life as my friends and family - correction - they we're also my friends and family. In some small way, I think they know that. God Bless You, Monkee Mike.

Enjoy the show!

Joy Division
The Brian Jonestown Massacre

"Just a boy and little girl
Trying to change the whole wide world"

*John Lennon is the artist who most connected with me. Spoke to me. Spoke for me.
December 8th, 1980 was hard then and now, and as I sat alone in the darkened studio tonight , I wanted to pay RFW respect to a fallen friend - but not by just playing his hits or again talking about his life/death.

I decided to seriously attempt to spiritually reconnect with my musical muse, starting the show with a telling tune from the still stark and stunning POB lp and then asking John to help guide me to the songs and artists that followed.

I can't find the words that can describe the loss - so no words were used.

Listen back to the results - I believe it worked.

Imagine that!

All I could see was the B-side of the disc

I reached for the arm which was less than one micron long
but weighed more than Saturn
and time stood still
I knew I had to escape but every time I tried to flee,
the record was in front of me"

Transmission 6221 - Hi-Res Is Due

Jeff Beck
Yellow Magic Orchestra
King Crimson
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Yes
Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
Pink Floyd

"And I do"

*I utilized the most recent remixed hi-resolution FLAC files available from the artists played thru a Firefly DAC and recorded by HAL matching the source with no embellishment. The sound in the RFW studio is stupefying!

The in-post player is sounding as great as usual,
but for the ultimate listening experience on your end - I suggest safely downloading this show as a Hi-Res FLAC by clicking the red T6221 above and ultimately invest in a DAC if you listen to most of your music from your device. It will vastly improve the sound of even your mp3 collection without breaking the bank!

We followed my self-described tech-nerd-guy and ever-talented WBCN radio Brother Bill Kates down the somewhat confusing path to technical ecstasy. Much love and Hi- Respect is due!
