*Powaqqatsi is a 1988 film directed by Godfrey Reggio. His description of the title was "An entity, a way of life, that consumes the life forces of other beings in order to further its own life." This sequel to his experimental 1982 film, Koyaanisqatsi was the second in The Qatsi Trilogy and was followed by Naqoyqatsi in 2002. All three were scored by Phillip Glass, but contain no dialogue. In the instance of tonight's session, which features inspiring artists from Germany, Japan and Italy, I suggest viewing Powaqqatsi if you can find it and using DLM as an engaging substitute soundtrack.
